Our hall is available to hire at weekends during school term time from Friday afternoon (4pm start) to Monday morning (vacate by midday) and upto 10.30 pm in the evenings, unless it is being used for an overnight scouting event or similar.
During school holidays it is available to hire weekdays and weekends between the hours of 8.30am and 10.30pm, again unless it is being used for an overnight scouting event or similar.
The main hall 14.5 metres by 8 metres, but narrows to 6m at 4 intermediate points. (See photos in gallery above). The ceiling height is 3.5 m and therefore ideally suited for children’s parties with ball games.
The building has sloping access suitable for wheelchairs plus 2 unisex toilets (this includes one for persons in wheelchairs).
There is a kitchen containing sinks, electric cooker, kettles, microwave plus work surfaces and storage cupboards containing crockery etc which can be used. Please note we don’t have a fridge nor freezer. We also have various tables (approx 8 no 2m x 1m), stackable chairs, and fixed benches if you require to use the hall for more formal events.
Close by we have the Parklands play area which is an ideal area for children to let off steam.
Please check with us if you’re planning on having a Bouncy Castle inside as access will be required on all sides and a risk assessment provided, before permission given to install.
Our hire charge is generally £16.00 per hour. For parties, we suggest a minimum block booking of 3 to 4 hours. For children who are members of the Hassocks Scout Group the hire rate reduces to £12 per hour. (see our Hall Hire Conditions for further details)

To check hall availability, please send an e-mail to hallhire@1sthassocksscouts.org.uk. Availability will then be confirmed, or possible alternatives given.
The building is also available for external youth Groups i.e. Scouts, Guides, Explorers, Rangers, Church Groups etc. especially useful if walking on the South Downs, an ideal night stop over location For these events please send an e-mail to hallhire@1sthassocksscouts.org.uk who will then confirm availability and rates.
Once availability and rates are agreed, these must be confirmed by e-mail by both parties. Please read the Hall Hire Conditions (see link at bottom of page) before confirming your booking. A deposit of 10% of the total sum or £10 whichever is the greater shall be made. Please make your payment online to Lloyds Bank (details will be sent to you ) with notification to the Group Treasurer at treasurer@1sthassocks.org.uk
The final payment is to be made approx 10 days prior to the event plus any returnable damage deposit requested as above with notification to the Group Treasurer.
Once your final payment has been received, we’ll send you an email confirming your booking and how to obtain the keys.
